jet stream - berlin...

It was twenty years ago that the entire world changed. The falling of the Berlin wall meant free passage to the west, the end of an era, and a city and country finally united. This week the world remembers and Berlin celebrates. Festivities will climax on November 9th, the official day the wall came down. The grand public party is rightly dubbed "The Festival of Freedom" and will take place at the famed Brandenburg Gate. Today's jet stream takes us to a few of the highlights of the new Berlin which is fast becoming a beacon for young artists.

jet stream - berlin: badeschiff ('bathing ship')

If you blink, you might think you are on the riviera. Fantastically beautiful people sipping drinks at the bar, a few of the loungers take a dip into the pool... However, its a long way from the beach. This is actually a former river barge turned pool anchored in the Spree River. After dark this posh must-be-seen spot turns into an even more post night club. In the winter, out come the saunas and the party continues.

Propeller Island City Lodge was created by a German artist named Lars Stroschen. Within the walls of this living installation, everything is handmade. Each of the 30 themed rooms are sure to take you to another place. If any rooms seem familiar, they are often used as sets for photo shoots.

exhibit - slash: paper under the knife...

The Museum of Arts and Design in New York will debut Slash: Paper under the knife on October 7th. As you can probably guess the exhibit will feature the work of some amazing artist working in cut paper. I fell in love with the work of Kara Walker a few months ago (who will take part in the exhibit) and in turn the entire medium. I am positive this exhibit cannot disappoint.
