spring 10 milan giorgio armani...

The master has returned. Every look at Armani was so fresh and updated! The colors were fabulous. There was a real sense of effortless chic. Lots of the skirts had pockets which I love, and adds to the "I look gorgeous and its easy" feeling. Bellissimo!

spring 10 over to milan...

Oh Donatella! It is all about sex over at Versace this Spring. Legs, cutouts and minis galore! I am loving the yellow and black and white story here. Sienna Miller should be their new it girl, b/c I think all these shapes were made for her!

Those who know me well know that I have a healthy obsession with Gwen. She has not disappointed with the l.a.m.b collection for spring 10. Perhaps one day I will let my inner rocker out!

the best of spring 2010 - new york fashion week...

Always a great show at Marc Jacobs!
More ladylike at Lela Rose.
Neutrals with shine over at Cynthia Steffe. Great beach/summer looks from Derek Lam and Jen Kao.
Bright and graphic at Jenny Kayne and L.A.M.B

the best of spring 2010 - new york fashion week...

This ladylike, modern 40's woman trend is a huge part of spring 10. Loving the different takes on the trend from Cynthia Rowley and Prabal Gurung.
Great prints at Derk Lam. Amazing use of color, graphic and ethnic inspiration. What else does a girl need?!
It was all about great prints at BCBG, Bibhu Mohapatra, and Brian Reyes. Love the interesting piecing over at BCBG. This concept seemed to be a feature in several collections this season.

the best of spring 2010 marc by marc jacobs...

I am going to have to gush...can Marc Jacobs be anymore on top of his game? I am dying over this color palette! Brights, tribal prints...I can't ask for anything more!

the best of spring 2010 - new york fashion week...

The rest of this week will be devoted to my spring 10 pics from New York. From a surface design point of view, the pieces that catch my eye have great shape, color, and/or print. Honestly...also included are some pieces that I would just love to wear!! Enjoy! :)
Neutrals are still going strong for spring. Can't get enough of these airy, yet structured shapes from Vena Cava.
Loving these strong graphic shapes from Zac Posen and Ohne Titel.

exhibit - slash: paper under the knife...

The Museum of Arts and Design in New York will debut Slash: Paper under the knife on October 7th. As you can probably guess the exhibit will feature the work of some amazing artist working in cut paper. I fell in love with the work of Kara Walker a few months ago (who will take part in the exhibit) and in turn the entire medium. I am positive this exhibit cannot disappoint.

cut paper - mister rob ryan

I had to keep going on this wonderful technique, and share a few more of my favs. Starting with Mister Rob Ryan.

artist - yellena james

I have been in love with the work of artist Yellena James for quite some time, so I thought I would share her gift here on parapluies et soleil. I just love the color stories and the line work.
Yellena is based in Portland, OR and her work is available in her etsy shop.

fall fantasies...

Fall is my absolute favorite season, and I am so happy the summer heat is already withdrawing its grip. Bring on the layers! I am loving the innovation and versatility over at Karolina Zmariak. Smart recession proof dressing - love it.
Expect tons of winter white. Buck the fade into the background head to toe neutral trend with a pop of saturated color. This Valentino bow satchel would do this trick! Just b/c its winter and the economy stinks, doesn't mean we have to look sad too. At least, that's what I would do! ;)
