Ok.  Truth.  The winter Anthro catalog was a bit of a dud for me.  HOWEVER, have you received the latest one yet???  Issue 2. 2011?  Clearly, I am prone to a bit of drama, but seriously I may die if I don't get some of these pieces asap!  Anthro, I'm sorry to have ever doubted you...

trend alert - disco baby!...

Ok.  Love it or hate it...its happening.  Disco is creeping its way back into our lives.  Ok, well for some of us, this will be the first go 'round at it. I know some of you may be holding yourselves back from gagging right now, but I gotta tell you...I think I am into it!  What is making me go over the top??  One guess...the color!  It's like a fruit salad ran away with a bunch pomegranates, and picked up some eggplant along the way for good measure.  (I know that didn't make any sense...)  I also love the idea of pairing them down with a range of camels.  AND, really, who can do over-the-top, yet wearable better than Marc Jacobs?

It's fun, it's girly, and vampy all at the same time.  I love how last season is was all about the 50's and those plunging bustlines.  It's like it's ok to a WOMAN again!  It all really feels like a party!  Of course I am on board with anything that has a sense of joie de vivre about it!    You can really pull some amazing color palettes from this trend and play with lots of color blocking....hmmm....photos. The prints, the tonal camels mixed with subtle earthy pops of color, and tons of fur. fashion - falling for anna sui...

And she's done it again...  I just can't get enough of the whimsy in all of Anna Sui's designs.  This fall she has just killed it.  This rich color palette is to die for.  It just screams bohemian victorian richness to me - LOVE.  I really love the she is flashing the ever present folk/ethnic trend a bit forward with this strong mountain graphic.  I am going to experiment with all these yummy jewel tones and pair them with a range of fleshy neutrals.  YUM!  Any color trends you are loving right now?

EEEK!!  I'm a officially a trend setter!  My good friend Anna (who is an amazing art director over at Eddie Bauer) emailed me (well facebooked me) the other day to tell me that she had spotted me on one of the top trend reporting sights Stylesight!  Are you kidding me?!  How exciting right?  When I was working at Nordstrom back in the day, I remember obsessing over all the fab prints I would see on WGSN and Stylesight.  Omg, now I'm in the report!  A bit Surreal really, but great!  I'm the 2nd and 4th images.

inspiration for your monday...

Happy Monday all!  I have to tell you.  I just had a wonderful weekend of doing...NOTHING!  It was amazing!  I did not allow myself to feel guilty about it either (ok it slipped in for a sec, but then I quickly shooed it away).  Now I am feeling recharged and ready to go on some new art.  First I am on an inspiration hunt.  Thought I would share some images  of what is inspiring me now.  I get a lot of color inspiration from home.  I think in my next life I may have to be an interior decorator!  :)

i admit it.  i'm a sucker for black+white plus a pop of color, and all sorts of graphic goodies.  so i was daydreaming over on the topshop site and came across these goodies (and the white one is denim!  eek!)...i'd wear them with (i'd do it, i swear!)...(anthro, topshop, bloomies)

color story - peachy green...

So blame Jason Wu if you must (above), but I am loving this resurgence of peach.  Pairing it with nearly any shade of green is feeling really fresh.  Don't panic!  I don't see a revival of wall to wall 80's peach in the near future!

color story - blue skies...

I recently posted about blues, and it seems like it is going to be everywhere for spring/summer.  The range is what is making this fresh and fun.  Use the word "blue" very loosely and play with aqua, navys, turqs and teals.  Mixing with icy grays and blue toned neutrals keeps it really modern.
